How we use AI

In brief

StockFactsheet uses one AI tool: Claude, made by Anthropic, which drafts each analysis page's text from a fact pack that code builds. Figures come from company filings and statements, and code computes every derived figure. AI never recommends a security. No page is published without OffScriptBySami's sign-off, given in batches after our automated checks and AI-assisted review passes.

1. What AI does

Claude, made by Anthropic, drafts the text of each analysis page from a fact pack that our code builds. For US companies, the pack's data comes from SEC filings, imported by scripts that run without AI. The pack lists the figures that code imports or computes for the page, each with its period, its unit and the filings behind it.

The drafter also works to written rules. It may use the pack's figures and, on a company hub, a figure copied exactly as a company filing or release states it, in a sentence that cites that document. It must not compute or round a number its own way, and must skip any figure with an open data-quality error. It must describe and compare, never advise, rate or predict.

For GCC companies, figures are keyed from the issuer's own financial-statement PDF with our entry tool, with AI assistance from Claude. Code then checks that each keyed figure is printed on its cited page, in the row with its printed label. It also records the column and the sign, and lists any mismatch for review. Our fact-check step checks the figures too before they show.

For an earnings recap, Claude also helps us key the guidance a company states in its earnings release. Code checks that each quote is printed in the release and that each value is printed in its quote, and a statement shows only after OffScriptBySami approves it.

Claude also runs the AI-assisted review passes in step 3 of the 5 steps in our editorial policy. An AI-assisted fact-check compares the figures in the text with the fact pack. It checks every figure quoted from a cited filing or release against that document, and traces a sample of the rest, plus any figure that looks surprising, to the filing.

Other AI-assisted passes check the wording against our compliance rules and the page's structure for search. Code checks the imported data and the wording against our banned-word list.

Claude may also help us read and answer reader messages and check the errors readers report. We use a message only to reply and to check a report.

2. What AI never does

At every step of making an analysis page, AI never:

  • Invents, estimates or computes a real company's figure. Reported figures come from filings and issuers' own statements, and code computes every derived figure. A worked example uses a covered company's own statements, or a fictional company where we do not publish the measure, and says which.
  • Picks winners in a comparison.
  • Recommends any security or predicts a price.
  • Publishes a page without OffScriptBySami's sign-off.
  • Rewrites a news article. A page that cites a story shows only its headline, publisher, date and link.
  • Creates images of people. We use no AI-generated images of people.

3. What a person does

OffScriptBySami, the founder and editor, decides what we cover and handles corrections. OffScriptBySami signs off every page, in batches, after the automated checks and the AI-assisted review passes. The sign-off and its date are recorded and printed on the page, and no page is published without it. About StockFactsheet says who is behind the site.

The table pairs each AI task with what a person does.

What a person does
AI doesA person does
Drafts the English text of an analysis page from the fact packDecides what to cover
Words the figures in the pack and, on a company hub, figures copied exactly from a cited company filing or release, and adds no other; prepares the decision on each open data-quality flag, citing the filing, under OffScriptBySami's standing delegationSigns off only pages whose data has no open error flag
Runs the fact-check, compliance and search passesSigns off every page, in batches, after those passes
Helps key GCC figures from the issuer's PDF; code checks each one against the PDF's own textSigns off a GCC page only after those code checks and our fact-check step
Helps key the guidance a company gives in its earnings release; code checks that each quote and value is printed in the releaseApproves each guidance statement before an earnings recap shows it
Helps read and answer reader messages and check reported errorsSigns off every corrected page before it goes live

The database enforces this order. It refuses to publish a page whose text changed after a check or after the sign-off, or whose sign-off is dated before any of the checks.

4. Tools used

We use Claude, made by Anthropic, for every AI task this page describes, and no other AI tool. If that changes, this page changes first, and the version history below records the change.

5. How pages are labelled

Analysis pages show these lines under the title. In the table, {date} stands for the real date.

How pages are labelled
LabelWhat it tells you
Signed off by OffScriptBySami on {date} · Updated {date}The named editor signed off this version of the page on that date, and the date of its last logged change.
Data as of {date} · For information only, not investment advice. The latest period end among the page's statement figures, which our methodology defines, and the short disclaimer; the full disclaimer gives the detail.

This page is our AI-use disclosure. Every page links to it from its footer, under "AI-use disclosure".

6. Errors and corrections

AI can write a wrong sentence or copy a figure wrongly, and code can carry a wrong figure. A wrong published figure or statement is a correction, whoever or whatever introduced it. We never silently change a published figure.

We aim to review an error report within 5 business days, Monday to Friday, UAE time. We fix a confirmed error and record it in the corrections log, with the old and the new wording, on the day the corrected page goes live. To report an error, email support@stockfactsheet.com.
