1 Dividends paid per share, used where dividends declared per share are not reported.

2 As presented in Form 10-K filed .

Free cash flow is cash from operations less capital expenditure. FCF cover divides it by the dividends paid in the same fiscal year, so a cover of less than one means free cash flow was smaller than the dividends paid. That was the case in FY2023 and FY2025. In FY2024, USD 6.21 billion of free cash flow was larger than the USD 5.40 billion paid.

Dividends paid rose from USD 3.44 billion in FY2021 to USD 5.37 billion in FY2023 and were USD 5.40 billion in both FY2024 and FY2025. Free cash flow fell from USD 10.8 billion in FY2021 to USD 4.77 billion in FY2025. Dividends per share rose in each fiscal year, from USD 4.08 per share in FY2021 to USD 6.56 per share in FY2025. We take them from the per-share cash dividends paid in its 10-K filings.

Each fiscal year's dividends paid is read from the cash flow statement of that year's own Form 10-K, and every column of the table links to its filing. The cover compares the flows of one fiscal year only. It does not show how dividends were funded when the cover was less than one.

How did United Parcel Service's buybacks and capital expenditure compare with its dividends from FY2021 to FY2025?

United Parcel Service spent USD 1.00 billion on share buybacks in FY2025, against USD 5.40 billion on dividends and USD 3.69 billion on capital expenditure. Buybacks were USD 3.50 billion in FY2022, USD 2.25 billion in FY2023 and USD 500 million in FY2024, according to its Form 10-K filings.

  • D Free cash flow = cash from operations minus capital expenditure.

Totals may not add up because of rounding.

Cash from operations was USD 8.45 billion in FY2025, down from USD 15.0 billion in FY2021. Capital expenditure was USD 4.19 billion in FY2021, USD 5.16 billion in FY2023 and USD 3.69 billion in FY2025. Free cash flow was USD 4.77 billion in FY2025, our calculation of cash from operations less capital expenditure.

Buybacks were USD 500 million in FY2021 and peaked at USD 3.50 billion in FY2022. Since then they have stayed between USD 500 million and USD 2.25 billion.

The PepsiCo stock fundamentals page sets that company's free cash flow beside its dividends paid and buybacks in the same way. Our methodology for free cash flow sets out the formula behind the free cash flow figures on this page.

Calculations
TTM = sum of the last 4 quarters. Q4 = fiscal year minus the nine-month YTD. Margins = line item ÷ revenue. FCF = cash from operations − capital expenditure. EBITDA = operating income + depreciation and amortisation (our calculation). Net debt = total debt − cash and short-term investments. CAGR = compound annual growth over three fiscal years.
Restatements
None in the periods shown.
Comparator
Each profile row compares the current value with United Parcel Service's own last five fiscal years, FY2021 to FY2025: the median of those five years and their range, from the lowest to the highest. A current value outside that range is drawn just past the end of the strip. Fewer than 5 covered peers exist, so there is no sector median yet.
