How did Intel's net debt change over the five quarters to 27 Jun 2026?
Intel's net debt was USD 20.8 billion at 27 Jun 2026, our calculation, up from USD 9.2 billion at 27 Dec 2025. Total debt was USD 50.5 billion and cash and short-term investments were USD 29.7 billion at 27 Jun 2026, according to its Form 10-Q for Q2 FY2026.

- D Cash and cash equivalents plus the short-term investments, current marketable securities or current debt securities the filing tags, from the same filing.
- D Total debt = short-term debt + long-term debt, from the same filing.
- D Net debt = total debt minus cash and short-term investments; a negative value is net cash.
A year earlier, at 28 Jun 2025, net debt was USD 29.6 billion. It fell to USD 15.6 billion at 27 Sep 2025 and USD 9.2 billion at 27 Dec 2025, then rose to USD 12.2 billion at 28 Mar 2026. Each of those figures is total debt less cash and short-term investments at that quarter-end.
Cash and short-term investments rose from USD 21.2 billion at 28 Jun 2025 to USD 37.4 billion at 27 Dec 2025. They then fell to USD 32.8 billion at 28 Mar 2026 and USD 29.7 billion at 27 Jun 2026. Total debt stayed between USD 45.0 billion and USD 50.8 billion over the same five quarters, so cash accounts for most of the movement in net debt.
Net debt here is our calculation from the balance sheet of each filing. Intel's fiscal year is a 52- or 53-week period that ends on the last Saturday in December. Its quarter-ends therefore fall on Saturdays, a few days either side of the calendar quarter-end.
Did Intel's free cash flow cover its dividends paid from FY2021 to FY2025?
Intel's free cash flow cover, our calculation, was 1.9× in FY2021, when free cash flow of USD 10,723 million was set against USD 5,644 million of dividends paid. The Financials table leaves the cover not meaningful for each fiscal year from FY2022 to FY2025, according to its Form 10-K filings.

1 As presented in Form 10-K filed .
Dividends paid were USD 5,997 million in FY2022, USD 3,088 million in FY2023 and USD 1,599 million in FY2024. The cash flow statement shows none in FY2025. Dividends declared per share fell alongside them, from USD 1.46 per share in FY2022 to USD 0.74 per share in FY2023 and USD 0.38 per share in FY2024.
Free cash flow is cash from operations less capital expenditure, so a fiscal year in which capital expenditure exceeds cash from operations has negative free cash flow. That was the case at Intel in each fiscal year from FY2022 to FY2025. Free cash flow for FY2025 was an outflow of USD 4.95 billion, our calculation.
FCF cover divides free cash flow by the dividends paid in the same fiscal year. It is not meaningful where free cash flow is negative or where no dividend was paid, which is why the table shows a figure for FY2021 only.
Which of Intel's FY2021 and FY2022 cash flow lines were restated in later filings?
Intel's cash from operations for FY2021 is USD 29,456 million in its later Form 10-K filings, against USD 29,991 million in the Form 10-K filed 27 Jan 2022. Its cash used for investing activities and cash from financing activities for FY2021 and FY2022 were restated in the Form 10-K filed 26 Jan 2024.

Totals may not add up because of rounding.
For FY2021, cash used for investing activities is USD 24,283 million, against USD 25,167 million in the Form 10-K filed 27 Jan 2022. Cash used for financing activities is USD 6,211 million, against USD 5,862 million in that filing.
For FY2022, cash used for investing activities is USD 10,231 million, against USD 10,477 million in the Form 10-K filed 27 Jan 2023. Cash provided by financing activities is USD 1,115 million, against USD 1,361 million in that filing. Cash from operations for FY2022 is USD 15,433 million.
Free cash flow, our calculation, uses the restated cash from operations. It was USD 10,723 million for FY2021 and an outflow of USD 9,411 million for FY2022. The restated cells carry an R marker with the original amount on the Intel financial statements page, and this page gives no reason for the changes.

How we got these numbers
Every figure comes from Intel's Forms 10-Q and 10-K as filed with the SEC. Derived values are marked D and explained below.
Full method for this page
- Source documents
- Forms 10-Q (Q1 FY2022 to Q2 FY2026) and 10-K (FY2018 to FY2025)
- Period covered
- 8 quarters and 5 fiscal years
- Calculations
- TTM = sum of the last 4 quarters. Q4 = fiscal year minus the nine-month YTD. Margins = line item ÷ revenue. FCF = cash from operations − capital expenditure. EBITDA = operating income + depreciation and amortisation (our calculation). Net debt = total debt − cash and short-term investments. CAGR = compound annual growth over three fiscal years.
- Restatements
- FY2021 cash from operations, an input of the FY2021 ratio, was restated in Form 10-K filed (originally USD 29,991 m). Restated figures carry the R marker; its footnote gives the originally reported value.
- Comparator
- Each profile row compares the current value with Intel's own last five fiscal years, FY2021 to FY2025: the median of those five years and their range, from the lowest to the highest. A current value outside that range is drawn just past the end of the strip. Fewer than 5 covered peers exist, so there is no sector median yet.
- Currency
- As reported (USD); no FX conversion.
