What the numbers show

In Q1 FY2027, the quarter ended 31 Aug 2026, Oracle's income statement shows operating income of USD 6.73 billion on revenue of USD 19.3 billion. Net interest, interest expense less interest income, was a cost of USD 1.12 billion by our calculation, against USD 820 million in Q1 FY2026. The 10-Q attributes the higher interest expense mainly to higher average borrowings from FY2026 senior notes. Net income was 24.6% of revenue, against 19.6% a year earlier, our calculation.

From FY2022 to FY2026, operating income grew at a compound annual rate of 17.2% and revenue at 12.2%, our calculations; the span includes Cerner, acquired in June 2022 (FY2023). SG&A (sales and marketing plus general and administrative) grew 1.5% a year on the same basis, and operating margin was 30.6% in FY2026, our calculation. Net income grew at 26.3% a year, our calculation. The 10-Q for Q2 FY2026 says non-operating income rose mainly on a gain from selling Oracle's investments in Ampere; net margin that quarter was 38.2%, our calculation.

On Oracle's balance sheet, property, plant and equipment (PP&E) rose from USD 9.72 billion at 31 May 2022 to USD 128 billion at 31 Aug 2026. In the quarterly table it rose at every quarter-end from USD 26.4 billion at 30 Nov 2024 through 31 Aug 2026. Total assets went from USD 109 billion to USD 303 billion over the same dates.

Oracle Corporation stockholders' equity, which excludes noncontrolling interests, went from negative USD 6.22 billion at 31 May 2022 to USD 66.8 billion at 31 Aug 2026. It was USD 42.5 billion three months earlier. The Q1 FY2027 10-Q shows proceeds that quarter from new shares sold into the market through an at-the-market program. Total liabilities were USD 236 billion and total debt USD 125 billion (notes payable and other borrowings), our calculations. The Oracle stock fundamentals page explains how that debt and the net debt position changed over the past year.

In the cash flow statement, quarterly capital expenditure went from USD 3.97 billion in Q2 FY2025 to USD 28.5 billion in Q1 FY2027. Free cash flow, always our calculation, was negative in 7 of those 8 quarters. Cash from operations rose to USD 23.1 billion in Q1 FY2027, from USD 8.14 billion a year earlier. The 10-Q says the rise is partly due to working-capital changes that include customer prepayments with a significant financing component, received in Q1 FY2027 but not in Q1 FY2026. Only the Q1 cash from operations and capital expenditure cells come straight from a 10-Q; other quarters, marked D, are derived from year-to-date totals.

Diluted EPS was USD 1.56 per share in Q1 FY2027, against USD 1.01 per share in Q1 FY2026. The diluted share count rose from 2,909 million shares to 3,000 million shares. From FY2022 to FY2026, diluted EPS grew 24.7% a year by our calculation, against 26.3% for net income.
